It’s the stuff of Hollywood – a romance to get your teeth into.

A lovesick Canadian dentist is aching for the mystery love of his life – and has travelled 5,000 miles to find the Irish woman he met for just two minutes over a year ago.

Sandy Crocker is spending the next four weeks searching the country for his red-haired beauty who he briefly met in An Teach Bia café in Ennistymon, County Clare, on July 9, 2011.

And though he spoke to her fleetingly, the lovelorn dentist wants to be reunited with the woman he met with his brother.

Mr Crocker recalled: ‘We stopped in Ennistymon to grab a bite to eat. I noticed that she was leaving and I spoke to her then. I asked her for directions to the Cliffs of Moher.

‘I was leaving Ireland a day later so, at first, I didn’t see the point in pursuing things more – but after she left I decided that I had to. Myself and my brother started looking for her.

‘We searched the town for an hour or two and couldn’t find her... later that evening we came back and looked for her again for another two hours. But there was no trace of her.’

Back home in Canada, Sandy was unable to get the unknown Irish girl out of his mind. So he decided last month to return to Ireland and spend a month trying to track her down.

‘She never left my mind, so I decided why not go back and try to find her. Maybe it’s a shot in dark but if it is meant to be, if it’s fate, then I might bump into her walking down the street or in a shop somewhere,’ he told the Clare People.

Similar thing happened to me.. we simply walked by saying "hello" to one another..there was a spark that had never before/since occurred..after walking 10 more steps I turned around and stopped..I was shocked as she had done the same..we just stood there jaws dropped then smiling for 60sec on a busy sidewalk. Her features weren't a models but she was perfection to me. It was more an acknowledgment of someone you loved for many years vs a first time. And I swear she looked the same way at me. In that moment I'd have dropped everything for this stranger..sounds ridiculous like cheesy romance novels or that I am an overly sensitive guy(am absolutely not) but I can recall that moment vividly 27 years later. I was in a relationship and talked myself out of engaging further...while I am very happily married 20+ yrs I still regret not pursuing her. Call it soul mates or whatever but in that instant something different occurred that I can't explain. My advice..go find her!

I hope her husband is understanding. It is very difficult working on your own teeth.

Hope he finds her and I trust the DM will be reporting if he does? Good luck!

What bothers me most about this article is the headline: "Can't fight this filling". Come on, I am so sick of the poor spelling and punctuation in the last few years. In this case, the spelling of the word should be "feeling", not "filling".

Look the guy just want to do her, he thought she was pretty and he wanted to get some, later when he does, he'll dish her. And if he says he is in love with her after two minutes and she falls for it, he wants to get some really fast! That's the TRUTH.

Hello stalker pants!!!!!!!!!

I doubt he'd recognise her even if he did run into her, and she certainly won't recognise him. This is a really dumb quest. Unless they meet and fall in love , of course.

err...so is it 4000 or 5000 miles DM? Picture vs. article. Also, she might want to know if he has hair under that hat. Me, I wouldn't care.

Amazing how a simple love story has stirred people up to the tune of over 200 comments.

Wow, stalker alert! The guy sounds creepy and desperate. I'm all for lovely romance stories, but this isn't one!
